There is saying in Africa that says educate a man and have an educated individual but educate a woman and get an educated community. The quote has bit some reality in it because woman are not only home makers but they influence the community in special manner that men would not.
Helping women overcome cultural barriers placed on them by society is one major steps. Education alone may help but finding their true value in God is very important. By helping women see themselves the way God sees them is very uplifting. Our programs are therefore strongly anchored on how they can find their identity in God as a foundation for their freedom.
Additionally, our women’s volunteer opportunities have a strong focus on education because learning new skills can help local women secure a steady income, granting more freedom, independence and equality.
Volunteer work can also include but not limited to empowering women through building confidence, developing financial knowledge, fostering entrepreneurship skills, and growing strong female leadership – all to support stronger, happier and generous communities. .
Whether you’re passionate about increasing positive outcomes for women, or a solo female traveler looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity, JVA Women’s Empowerment programs are an extremely rewarding and uplifting way to gain cross-cultural experience and deepen your compassion.
